Wrinkles are a natural part of the ageing process where our skin starts to lose elasticity, moisture and fast regeneration properties; resulting in drooping skin and the formation of deep grooves.

Wrinkles can be made worse due to external factors like prolonged exposure to UV light. Regular smoking and drinking dehydrates the skin as well, thereby accelerating the ageing process.

Thankfully, wrinkles can be treated by a range of non-invasive to minimally invasive methods that either fills up deep grooves or stimulates the growth of new skin.

Treatment Options for Wrinkles

  • Creams & Lotions
    • These are milder treatment options for wrinkles. They may contain ingredients like Vitamin A, fruit acids, antioxidants and moisturizers.
  • Chemical Peels
    • These peels make use of acid and penetrate deeper into the skin, thereby doing a better job of smoothing fine lines. Such peels do not require anaesthesia.
    • Several types of peels are available, ranging from light “lunchtime” peels with little to no downtime, to more intense peels that may result in crusting for several days.
  • Botox
  • Injectable Fillers
    • Filler substances are injected into the face to fill furrows, such as those under the eyes and in the smile lines on either side of the nose and lips. In addition, the injections can give a smoother and plumper appearance to the skin.
  • Laser
    • CoolTouch3 - A type of laser applied in a series of gentle pulses over the treatment area. The laser penetrates deep into the skin without burning it and stimulates the production of collagen where it is needed.
    • Fractional CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing - A high standard of treatment in laser wavelength, used for intense skin resurfacing for rejuvenation purposes.
  • Exilis
    • Exilis therapy employs radiofrequency technology to target the deep layers of the skin resulting in contraction of the deep tissues and new collagen production.
    • The procedure does not require anaesthesia as it is almost painless. There is virtually no downtime involved and individuals can return to their usual work and social activities after treatment.
  • Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
    • This technology uses light energy of a broad-spectrum of wavelengths. It stimulates the production of new collagen in the skin resulting in an improvement in the appearance of the pores, fine lines and general skin texture.

FAQs

Skin ages all over the body, but much more in areas where there have been prolonged sun exposure. Changes brought on by sun damage (photo-ageing) include dryness, sallowness, a patchy unevenness of skin colour, skin sagging, and wrinkles.

Wrinkles can be divided into several categories; fine, surface lines, deep furrows and the exaggerated lines of facial expression.

Wrinkles are found primarily on the parts of the body where sun exposure is greatest. These areas especially include the face, neck, the backs of the hands, and the tops of the forearms.

A dermatologist is a doctor who, after five years of working in general medicine, went on to undergo at least three more years of intensive, specialised medical and surgical training in dermatology; making him/her the most qualified doctor to remove your wrinkles safely and effectively.
